| Other Info | From Eric Pearson, Executive Vice President of the El Paso Community Foundation: The local film, Red Mesa, which was shown at the Plaza Classic Film Festival in 2009 has won "best short film" at LALIFF (the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival). Good news, but the great news is that the win at LALIFF qualifies it to submit to the Academy Awards for 2010!!! To do that, the filmmakers need to make a film print, get a few more festivals under their belt, and make a whole lot of DVDs "for your consideration". All in all, they need to raise $25,000. The El Paso Community Foundation is acting as their fiscal sponsor, and your donation is tax deductible to the extent of the law. We will be holding a downtown and dirty fundraiser this Saturday, January 9 at 7pm in the old abandoned Newbury Department Store (209 N. Stanton). Minimum donation is $10.... to give now, please visit http://www.epcf.org/donate and type "Red Mesa" on the subject. |
